Thomson Resources (TMZ) has begun a soil auger sampling program at its gold project in Chillagoe, Queensland.

Work began on October 24 with 10 prospects prioritised, which are prospective for anomalous gold, copper, silver and base metals.

The aim of this drilling is to further outline the prospectivity of the prospects with plans to begin deeper reverse circulation (RC) drilling after the wet season.

Borderline

The Borderline Prospect consists of a 650-metre long lode with multiple rock chip anomalies.

Four trenches were dug in 1968 and a continuous 1.5-metre channel sample returned up to 26.8g/t gold and 713g/t silver.

Further, the trenches revealed a zone of intense quartz-sericite hydrothermal alteration.

Laverock

Rock chips collected from the Laverock Prospect in 1984 returned up to 7.1g/t gold with recent rock chip sampling returning up to 5g/t gold and 1.3 per cent copper.

Salt Creek

Salt Creek is prospective for copper and gold with the last reported work completed in 1985.

Up to 5.7g/t gold and 24.3 per cent copper has been returned.

Arizona

Arizona is also prospective for copper and gold with historic work returning up to 3.1g/t gold and 19.1 per cent copper.

Quartz Hill

Quartz Hill has not been drilled and recent data has outline a strong magnetic anomaly that is circular and 400 metres in length.

Up to 45g/t gold and 12.8g/t gold has been identified at this prospect.

West Ridge

Similar to Quartz Hill, West Ridge hosts a strong magnetic anomaly with up to 3g/t gold returned.

Paradox

The Paradox Prospect features several prospecting pits with modern work consisting of rock chip sampling.

Drilling in 1986 did not intersect significant gold but returned anomalous levels of zinc, lead and silver.

Pandanus

Pandanus consists of a high-resolution magnetic anomaly which has been subject to no recorded exploration.

Despite this, rock chip samples 400 metres to the northeast returned up to 1.6g/t gold and 5 per cent lead.

Empire East and South Bend

Both Empire East and South Bend are strong magnetic anomalies, with no drilling or trenching completed at either.

Samples from all 10 prospects will be analysed for gold, copper, silver and base metals with results expected to be available in December.

Thomson is up 2.44 per cent on the market with shares trading for 8.4 cents each at 2:43 pm AEDT.
