Access Innovation Holdings (AIM) has renewed its contract with Sky News Australia for an additional three years.

Under this renewal, AIM will provide Sky News Australia with its Live Premium captioning service and Smart ASR technology.

The use of AIM’s ASR technology gives viewers 24/7 captioning on the Sky News network for the first time.

Launched in April this year, the ASR technology does not require real-time human curation to work.

It uses a combination of artificial intelligence and machine learning to offer independent captioning.

Based on these new offerings, it is believed that the value of the contract will increase.

“Our continuing partnership with Sky News Australia focuses on technology innovation and automation,” Co-Founder and CEO Tony Abrahams said.

“We’re delighted to launch Smart ASR on Sky News Australia, providing 24/7 access to captioning for the very first time at a quality level that can be relied upon by viewers.”

AIM has also reaffirmed its FY21 forecast and expects revenue of $43.8 million, gross profit of $18.1 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation loss of $4.8 million.

Shares in AIM are up 2.62 per cent, trading at 98 cents at 3:55 pm AEST.
