Alicanto Minerals (AQI) has identified four new copper-gold skarn targets at the Greater Falun Project in Sweden.
Following recent fieldwork, the new targets include Stone Lake, Heritage Valley and Swamp Thing, and follow on from the previously announced Birch Mountain target.
These three new targets bring the total number of discovered copper-gold skarn targets to seven, all discovered since January 2020. The others include Wolf Mountain, Lustebo and Heden.
Samples from historical work at the Birch Mountain target identified up to 4.94 per cent copper and 0.30g/t gold in strongly altered granite.
Alicanto believes this target represents the plutonic part (body of an intrusive igneous rock) of a copper-gold skarn system.
Samples from waste dump at a historic iron mine have identified a massive garnet skarn with 1.81 per cent copper, similar to that seen at the Heden target.
Further, a mineralised prospect two kilometres northwest from Stone Lake has returned up to 7.17g/t gold.
At the Swamp Thing target, samples from historical work have identified a copper-gold skarn, grading up to 1.8 per cent copper.
Finally, at the Heritage Valley target, a massive garnet skarn was identified, returning results of up to 1.19 per cent copper and 0.42g/t gold.
"These latest high-grade copper-gold results from the recent surface mapping campaign continue to strongly support Alicanto's interpretation of the significance of the previous Wolf Mountain, Heden and Lustebo copper-gold skarn discoveries," Managing Director Peter George said.
"A regional distribution with seven (so far) of these copper-gold skarn systems has now been identified in the Greater Falun area. These further highlight the immense prospectivity of Alicanto's landholding in what is a highly-endowed region," he added.
These targets will now be drilled as part of a 4000 metre program that is set to begin next month.
Alicanto has ended the day 2.86 per cent in the green with shares trading for 18 cents each in a $48.87 million market cap.
