Anson Resources (ASN) has increased the lithium grade at its Long Canyon No. 2 well within its Paradox lithium project in Utah by 25 per cent compared to previous assays.

The increase comes on the back of recent drilling in the targeted Mississippian Units at the well as part of Anson’s ongoing resource expansion drilling program.

The program delivered an assay value of 100 parts per million (ppm) lithium and 2460 ppm bromine. Anson had estimated a minimum grade of 80 ppm lithium in its exploration target for the project.

According to Anson, the reported grade increase provides a strong indicator of the upside potential in the planned upcoming JORC resource upgrade at the project.

The Mississippian Units within the project area host a massive brine aquifer with a thickness between 70 metres and 170 metres, situated approximately 500 metres below the Clastic Zones that have been used to calculate the current indicated and inferred JORC resource estimate.

However, the company said the units were not part of the current JORC resource.

Currently, Anson’s resource expansion drilling program is progressing on the Mississippian Units at the high-priority Cane Creek 32-1 well.

The company has also drilled through the units of the historic wells on the western side of the project area and plans to re-enter these wells for testing.

Shares in Anson were up 9.09 per cent to 12 cents per share at 10:34 am AEST.
