High-grade zinc and lead mineralisation has been found at shallow depths at Apollo Minerals (AON) Kroussou project in Central Africa.

The materials stock has released the results from 11 diamond drill holes that were completed at the project’s Dikaki prospect.

Best results include 32 metres at 3.1 per cent zine and lead from four metres, including 13.5 metres at 5.2 per cent zine and lead from 12.8 metres.

AON said the assays show Dikaki plays host to a large-scale shallow, flat-lying, broadly mineralised system which may be suited to open-pit extraction.

Executive Director Neil Inwood said it was a pleasing result.

“These first drilling results confirm the potential of the Dikaki Prospect and of the larger Kroussou system,” Mr Inwood said.

“We are delighted our maiden drilling campaign is demonstrating grade and mineralisation continuity at Dikaki at very shallow depths which have the potential to be amenable to simple low-cost open-pit mining.

“The results highlight a shallow, flat-lying, broadly mineralised system, with potential for mineralisation to link up across multiple areas; demonstrating that Kroussou has the potential to deliver a significant, large scale, base metal project.”

Apollo was now awaiting assays from the remaining 35 holes completed at the Dikaki prospect.

Additionally, it said a 100-hole program would soon kick off at the untested Niamabimbou prospect.

Apollo Minerals shares spiked following today’s news and were trading up 38.9 per cent at 10 cents per share at 2:04 pm AEST.
