  • Azure Minerals’ (AZS) diamond drilling program has intersected nickel and copper at the Andover nickel-copper project in Western Australia
  • So far, six holes, for over 2000 metres, have been drilled and all six have intersected broad intervals of nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation
  • Assays from the fourth hole drilled returned grades peaking at 3.52 per cent nickel and 1.04 per cent copper
  • Pleasingly, the intersections are contained in an overall mineralised envelope of 41.9 metres at 1.1 per cent nickel and 0.57 per cent copper
  • The seventh hole is now underway and is testing extensions to mineralisation west of the fourth hole
  • Azure is down 3.21 per cent and shares are trading at 75.5 cents

Azure Minerals (AZS) has reported massive sulphide mineralisation in one of the holes drilled at the Andover nickel-copper project in Western Australia.

Diamond drilling began in October and aimed to follow-up results from a maiden drilling program conducted earlier this year.

So far, six diamond holes, for 2025.9 metres, have been drilled, and all six intersected broad intervals containing nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation.

Pleasingly, the massive sulphide zones coincide with strong electromagnetic conductors that were detected by surface fixed-loop transient electromagnetic (FLTEM) surveys and were confirmed by downhole transient electromagnetic (DHTEM) surveys.

Today’s results are from hole ANDD0004, which confirmed the mineralisation is associated with the strong VC-07 EM conductor.

The hole was drilled to test the upper part of the eastern end of the VC-07 anomaly. The hole drilled through a 41.9-metre wide mineralised interval that contained nickel and copper.

Best results include 4.1 metres at 3.52 per cent nickel and 0.36 per cent copper from 354.8 metres, including 8.5 metres at 2.77 per cent nickel and 1.04 per cent copper from 354.8 metres and 16.2 metres at 2.08 per cent nickel and 0.75 per cent copper from 347.5 metres.

These and other nickel and copper sulphide intersections are contained within a mineralised envelope of 41.9 metres at 1.10 per cent nickel and 0.57 per cent copper from 336.1 metres.

“The high-grade nickel and copper assays from the massive sulphides intersected in ANDD0004 and the coincident strong in-hole EM conductor support VC07 as the geophysical signature of a fertile and potentially extensive nickel and copper-rich mineralised system,” Managing Director Tony Rovira said.

“The deepest hole, ANDD0006, intersected the widest mineralised zone yet drilled, with an intersection width in excess of 53 metres, indicating that the mineralised zone is still open in the downdip direction and potentially broadening with increasing depth,” he added.

The ANDD0007 hole is currently underway and testing along strike and down-plunge extensions of the sulphide mineralisation to the west of ANDD0004.

Next year, Azure will conduct a 30,000-metre diamond drilling program to unlock a mineral resource within the mineralised body.

Azure is down 3.21 per cent and shares are trading at 75.5 cents at 11:04 am AEDT.
