Beam Communications (BCC) has received its eighth Iridium GO! order from satellite services company Iridium Communications.

This order of 5000 units will take the total number of units manufactured by Beam to 50,000 since it launched in mid-2014.

Beam’s Iridium GO! is a compact and portable device that supports global calling, SMS, email, social networking, SOS alerts, and tracking capabilities.

This is powered by the world’s furthest reaching network and can work wherever the user is – be it, on land or sea, off or on the grid.

“We have expanded our manufacturing for the Iridium GO! device, adding Malaysia and China. This ensures that Beam can cope better with any potential supply chain disruptions or other unpredictable events,” CEO Michael Capocchi said.

“The bushfires, hurricanes, and earthquakes that we are experiencing around the world have also highlighted the need for a communications tool that doesn’t require ground infrastructure,” Capocchi said.

“The Iridium GO! is perfect for a wide range of applications including email, weather, voice communication, and SOS for emergencies,” he added.

Beam is down a slight 2.04 per cent and shares are trading for 24 cents each at 2:05 pm AEST.
