Beam Communications (BCC) has received an order for 22,000 of its ZOLEO devices, making it the largest order received by the company to date.

Headquartered in Toronto, ZOLEO is a 50:50 joint venture between Beam and Roadpost, focussed on developing lower-cost, consumer-oriented global messaging solutions, including wireless devices and apps.

ZOLEO connects with phones and tablets to provide seamless global messaging that can work both in and out of mobile coverage zones, enabling users to message over satellite, cellular or wifi.

The latest order is the seventh received by Beam so far and includes 5500 devices that are earmarked to support momentum in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

To this end, Australia Post is reportedly gearing up to sell ZOLEO products at selected outlets and online via its website later this month.

Meanwhile, Beam is also preparing to launch the offering in New Zealand in July.

BCC says it continues to receive multiple direct and repeat orders for ZOELO devices from Anaconda Group and Telstra’s largest satellite dealer, Beam’s subsidiary SatPhone Shop.

The company has received orders for 69,245 units to date.

On the market this morning, Beam Communications shares were trading 6 per cent higher at 26.5 cents at 10:25 am AEST.
