Bellevue Gold (BGL) has intersected up to 11.6g/t gold from the first hole at the Government Well prospect.

The discovery was made just 7.4 kilometres shy of Bellevue’s flagship gold project in WA.

Government Well was the first target to be tested within the 20 kilometre-long Bellevue Trend. Previous rock chip sampling at the prospect has returned results up to 32g/t gold.

This first hole focused on where shallow drilling has defined a number of significant results.

The first hole returned an intercept of 17 metres at 4.2g/t gold from 19 metres, including three metres at 9.7g/t gold from 19 metres and three metres at 11.6g/t gold from 33 metres.

“This result supports our view that there is huge scope to grow the inventory at Bellevue. The Bellevue Gold Mine sits within a 20 kilometre-long mineralised corridor which has been subjected very limited exploration,” Managing Director Steve Parsons commented.

“The drilling at Government Well represents our first foray away from the mine area and given the strength of this result, we will conduct follow-up drilling at the first opportunity,” he said.

A total of four holes were drilled and results for the remaining three are pending.

Follow-up diamond drilling is now planned to determine whether the pyrite mineralisation at the prospect reflects a new mineralisation style or if it is reflective of pyrrhotite (iron sulphide mineral) mineralisation.

Bellevue is up 8.75 per cent and shares are trading for 87 cents each at 11:59 am AEST.
