Big River Gold (BRV) has appointed Beau Nicholls as Technical Director, effective immediately.

Beau will retain his current role as Non-Executive Director and move into this new role at a time when Big River is planning to increase its exploration and geological team in Brazil.

These increases come as a result of the country relaxing its COVID-19 restrictions, which have significantly impacted activity.

Beau has 25 years’ experience working as a geologist across Australia, Africa, South America and Eastern Europe.

He spent nine years in Brazil where he set up and managed the Coffey International office in Belo Horizonte.

In his role as Technical Director, Beau will oversee exploration planning and will execute programs in and around Big River’s Borborema Gold Project.

Further, he will also provide geological assistance for production at Borborema and assess projects for potential acquisition.

“We are very pleased to have been able to secure Beau’s services as the company looks to expand its geological and exploration effort in Brazil,” Executive Chairman Andrew Richards said.

“As well as helping to rejuvenate our exploration efforts, Beau will have an important role in assisting the setup of the mining geology team for Borborema,” he added.

Shares in Big River are up 2.56 per cent on the market and are trading at 40 cents at 1:57 pm AEDT.
