West Australian gold explorer BMG Resources (BMG) has completed a sub-audio magnetic survey at its Abercromby Gold Project in WA.

Sub-audio magnetic (SAM) surveying is a geophysical technique than can provide better structural understanding of ore deposits by detecting and mapping conductive signatures that represent structural trends.

BMG’s SAM survey was undertaken over the northern section of the Abercromby Project along a three-kilometre strike, which is around half the overall length of the project area.

The survey provided high-resolution mapping of the structures which increased the company’s confidence in its geological and structural model for Abercromy, which will assist in planning follow-up drilling.

BMG Managing Director Bruce McCracken said the SAM survey successfully identified known gold-bearing structures and its continuity into areas where minimal drilling had taken place before.

“This highlights the potential for considerable further growth of the mineralised footprint at Abercromby,” said Bruce McCracken.

“These are exciting results that bode well for future ounce discovery, and we look forward to further exploring the potential of Abercromby when our upcoming drill program commences.”

The company said recent work at Abercromby has confirmed a high-grade gold system with excellent growth potential. Results also confirmed the gold is free-milling and amenable to conventional carbon-in-leach processing.

As a result of the survey, southern sections of the project area, including the Barrick and Archer targets, will receive the same attention.

BMG Resources was up 1.72 per cent, trading at 5.9 cents at 11:00 am AEST.
