BPM Minerals (BPM) has begun drilling at its flagship Hawkins lead-zinc project in the Earaheedy Basin in Western Australia.

Around 7500 metres of reverse circulation (RC) and aircore drilling will be undertaken to complete lines across the Frere Iron and Yelma formations as well as follow up on historical lead-zinc intercepts.

The exploration team will analyse the samples with a portable XRF analyser which will allow them to complete infill and deeper RC drilling on anomalies immediately if needed.

BPM expects the drilling will take at least four weeks with the potential to extend the program.

The Hawkins Project lies roughly 40 kilometres northwest along strike from Rumble Resources (RTR) Chinook lead-zinc discovery which has intersected up to 4.22 per cent lead and zinc.

Limited historical RC drilling was completed across the Earaheedy Basin by RGC in 1997, who explored for lead, zinc and silver mineralisation.

RGC undertook limited scout drilling at the Pinnacles Prospect which returned a best intercept of two metres at 0.56 per cent zinc and lead.

Notably, wherever RGC intersected lead-zinc mineralisation, large-scale discoveries have been made.

Shares in BPM have ended the day 3.03 per cent in the green at 17 cents.
