Smart tech company Buddy Technologies (BUD) is expecting record LIFX sales as Amazon launches its Prime Day deals today.
The world’s largest online retailer is offering a free LIFX white smart light with every purchase of selected non-screen Alexa devices, such as Echo Dot and Echo Flex.
One of the deals Amazon is offering is an Echo Dot and LIFX White for US$18.99 (around A$26.49), a bundle which is normally US$59.98 (roughly A$83.67).
Amazon Prime Day is an annual shopping event and is historically the largest retail event of the year. Last year’s Prime Day exceeded the prior year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday in combined sales.
The shopping event commences at midnight local time on October 13 and runs through to the next day. One of 2019’s top-selling product was the Amazon Echo Dot.
Buddy says the LIFX lights are low-cost, energy-efficient, and easy to install. They also include wi-fi and support mobile use. LIFX White was one of the first company product to support Amazon’s Wireless Simple Setup (WSS).
WWS “reduces or removes complicated steps to connect devices to home Wi-Fi networks and Amazon Alexa accounts.”
CEO David McLauchlan is thrilled to be selected by Amazon.
“Adjusting a home’s lighting by using only your voice remains one of the most impactful uses for the Alexa Smart Home by consumers, and to enable that we’re exceptionally proud of our close relationship with Amazon’s Alexa team,” he said.
“Over the next two days, hundreds of thousands of households that have never before experienced the convenience and joy of voice-controlled lighting powered by LIFX and Amazon will do so for the first time. Our global team stands ready to welcome them to the LIFX family and to help them further grow their LIFX home installations,” he added.
Buddy has prepared for the mammoth global sales event by strengthening its cloud capabilities to prepare for all the new customers coming to the platform.
Shares in Buddy are up 6.06 per cent following the news, worth seven cents each at 1:22 pm AEDT.
