Carnavale Resources (CAV) has discovered high-grade gold during the second round of drilling at the Kookynie gold project in Western Australia.

The 117-aircore hole drilling program wound up last month after testing the extent and potential of the multiple gold anomalies and structural features identified during the first round of aircore drilling completed last year.

In particular, follow up drilling focused on three areas of significant gold anomalism in the weathered rock profile, identified during the initial drilling program.

The most recent results show that anomalies at McTavish East and North have been extended and expanded.

Best results from McTavish East included two metres at 16.25 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 54 metres and four metres at 1.8g/t from 70 metres including two metres at 3.4 g/t.

The anomaly consists of 500 metres of strike length and remains open to the northeast for two kilometres.

At McTavish North, significant results included one metre at 4.54g/t from 31 metres and six metres at 1.54g/t from two metres including two metres at 3.43g/t.

Wide zones of gold mineralization have been identified in the regolith profile, providing a vector to potential high-grade mineralization at depth.

Further, Carnavale notes that the prospect appears to have multiple stacked gold bearing structures within each zone.

The primary gold mineralisation at McTavish North strikes to the north and northeast and remains open, while the new zone identified by recent drilling strikes 160 metres to the north and remains open.

Chairman Ron Gajewski said the results “intersected the high-grade gold mineralisation analogous to the historic gold mines that the Kookynie Mining District is famous for.”

Looking ahead, CAV has planned additional aircore drilling to define the extents of the new anomalies at McTavish East and McTavish North.

The proposed work program will also include infill aircore drilling to outline the detail of the new anomalies.

Additionally, reverse circulation drilling could go ahead to examine the bedrock source of these regolith anomalies.

Finally, the company has proposed an interpretation of the multi-element geochemistry and drainage anomalies to provide further understanding of the morphology of the mineralising systems.

Shares are 11.1 per cent higher at 1 cent each at 12:53 pm AEST.
