Cavalier Resources (CVR) has begun a pre-feasibility study (PFS) at the Crawford Gold Project within the Leonora gold project area in Western Australia.

The PFS will initially focus on the shallow, thick ore zones that have been drilled to JORC 2012 indicated classification to review the potential for an open-cut mining operation.

The Crawford Project is a primarily oxide-hosted supergene style mineralised system that has been advanced towards a mining operation.

Previous drilling encountered significant intersections of 10 metres at 3.38g/t gold including two metres at 12.4g/t gold from 17 metres, and 15 metres at 2.49g/t gold including three metres at 7.87g/t gold from 35 metres.

The thick zones of mineralisation close to the surface remain open along strike and at depth.

“Prior private work on advancing the existing 101,000 ounce Crawford Gold mineral resource was extensive and aimed at advancing the JORC Classified Indicated portion of the current resource to readiness for mining approval,” Executive Technical Director Daniel Tuffin said.

“Having determined it suitable to do so, the Company now intends to commence a pre-feasibility study to create a maiden JORC compliant ore reserve.

“To expedite works, the company intends to carry out the PFS in conjunction with this drilling; the initial phases of the PFS require physical and cost estimates that take time to gather which current resource will be suitable.”

Cavalier was steady on the market with shares trading at 20.5 cents at 1:33 pm AEST.
