Centaurus Metals (CTM) has intersected high-grade nickel sulphide mineralisation at its Jaguar Nickel Sulphide Project in Brazil.

This mineralisation was identified at the Onça Preta Deposit and the Onça Rosa Prospect, both of which lie within Jaguar.

Onça Preta deposit

Drilling at Onça Preta continues to confirm the consistency and continuity of high-grade nickel-sulphide mineralisation to depths up to 300 metres.

Significant results from this recent program include 4.7 metres at 2.36 per cent nickel, 0.08 per cent copper, and 0.22 per cent cobalt from 49.6 metres, and 6.4 metres at 1.34 per cent nickel, 0.2 per cent copper and 0.15 per cent cobalt from 93.8 metres including 4.2 metres at 1.76 per cent nickel, 0.28 per cent copper, and 0.2 per cent cobalt from 96 metres.

High-grade mineralisation remains open at depth and along strike and Centaurus sees this as potential to extend the deposit.

Centaurus will undertake step-out drilling at Onça Preta once it has completed DHEM (downhole electromagnetic) survey work at the deposit, and shallow resource drilling at the Jaguar Central and Jaguar North deposits.

“Results from Onça Preta continue to demonstrate the consistency of grade across the deposit,” Managing Director Darren Gordon commented.

“We have now extended the strike length of the shallow, high-grade mineralisation to over 150 metres centred on the outstanding intercept of 14.9 metres at 2.94 per cent nickel from 56.8 metres reported earlier in the year — underlining the potential for a low-strip, open-pit start-up operation,” he said.

Onça Rosa prospect

Historic drilling at Onça Rosa intersected high-grade semi-massive and massive sulphides, returning up to 5.27 per cent nickel.

Better results from this recent drill program include 3.9 metres at 3.19 per cent nickel, 0.05 per cent copper, and 0.07 per cent cobalt from 14 metres, and 7.8 metres at 1.62 per cent nickel, 0.11 per cent copper, and 0.04 per cent cobalt from 157.6 metres.

Although high-grade mineralisation was not always intersected, these results demonstrate the continuity of the mineralisation structure.

Additional drilling is now planned to test extensions of the mineralisation.

Centaurus has now begun drilling at the Jaguar Central and Jaguar North deposits to follow-up on historical, high-grade intersections.

The company also remains on target to deliver its maiden JORC mineral resource estimate for Jaguar by the end of June.

Centaurus is up a slight 4.35 per cent and shares are trading for 24 cents each at 11:05 am AEST.
