ChemX (CMX) achieves 99.7 per cent manganese sulphate purity in its initial test work program for its high purity manganese sulphate monohydrate (HPMSM) project.

The results come from a sample of ore taken from reverse circulation drilling at the company’s Jamieson Tank Manganese project in South Australia and support plans for further exploration at the project.

The company said it was impressed with the results as it originally aimed to identify the efficacy of the chosen process.

Manganese is an important component of the lithium battery and is mostly used by auto manufacturers.

Once beneficiation work is complete, the company will conduct further work on the production of the HPMSM project.

“The outcomes from this initial test work program are very encouraging, providing ChemX with significant confidence that manganese from the Jamieson Tank project is well suited for further processing into HPMSM for lithium battery cathodes,” Managing Director David Leavy said.

“This is a fantastic result and is in line with our strategy of producing high-value materials for the energy transition and decarbonisation markets.”

Shares were trading 18.4 per cent higher at 22.5 cents each at 2:04 pm AEST.
