Cooper Energy (COE) has updated the market on its Sole Gas Project.

The company previously announced that the Sole gas field is ready to produce gas on the completion of the Orbost Gas Plant upgrade.

Sole Gas field is located in the Gippsland Basin, 200 kilometres east of Melbourne. It is currently being developed to provide a new source of gas for south-east Australia.

On December 10, the management of the Orbost site was transferred from the construction contractor, Downer to APA Group.

This is an important milestone which allows APA to continue with the next stage of commissioning activities, which includes the onsite power generation.

The introduction of gas from the Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP) for the first phase of gas commissioning is planned to commence early next year.

APA says that the second phase of gas commissioning which involves gas supply from the Sole gas field is planned to commence late January.

The first supply of Sole sales gas to the EGP should commence in February 2020.

Cooper Energy is up slightly on the market this afternoon, trading at 57¢ per share at 2:33 pm AEDT.
