Dart Mining (DTM) has identified multiple targets from recent survey work at the Granite Flat copper-gold porphyry project in Victoria.
The company completed an induced polarisation (IP) and magneto-telluric survey in August after nine months of preliminary porphyry exploration. This method of surveying is reportedly important when trying to find porphyry mineralisation in the subsurface.
Positively for the company, the survey generated nine chargeability anomalies that span two kilometres and suggest porphyry-style disseminated sulphide mineralisation.
These newly identified anomalies provide DTM with new targets to drill between 200 and 400 metres below surface.
Chairman James Chirnside was pleased with the interpretation of the geophysical survey.
“The interpretation and revelations within the data are possibly the company’s most significant results to date, and we are very encouraged by them – in fact we could have scarcely asked for more,” he said. “We now need to accelerate our exploration program at Granite Flat and give the project the attention it so clearly deserves.”
While drilling this year at the project encountered mineralisation, it hadn’t intercepted the IP targets that have now been identified. However Dart said this wasn’t surprising as most of the IP anomalies were centred between 100 and 400 metres below surface and the average depth of drilling at the project was 54 metres.
Dart Mining expects to begin drilling the targets in the next few weeks.
