DroneShield (DRO) has had another strong quarter, posting record sales receipts and rolling out a demonstration security system at a European airport.
Record sales
The company has received a record $2.8 million in purchase orders through the December quarter to date.
DroneShield has also posted record quarterly cash receipts of $1.6 million, with potential to add to the tally before the quarter ends.
The company has continued to add to its clientele in the back half of 2020, including Five Eyes nations, U.S., European and Asian customers.
As the threat of drones becomes ever more present for airports, military and other high-security facilities, the need for counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) is increasing.
DroneShield’s high-end solutions can be rolled out either off-the-shelf or as bespoke systems, putting the company in a prime position to capitalise on the growing need for C-UAS.
Airport order
As a proof-of-concept of its C-UAS system, DroneShield has rolled out its most comprehensive system to date at Altenrhein Airport in Switzerland.
Provided on a no revenue basis, the system will showcase the company’s C-UAS airport solution.
DroneShield has deployed technology which can detect and track drones within an 8-kilometre radius, identify drone types and potential payloads, and even indicate the location of the drone pilot.
The system is also entirely passive, meaning there’s no interference to other equipment, making it well suited for the airport environment.
DroneShield CEO Oleg Vornik says the company’s tech is filling an ever-increasing need for safer airports.
“Airports have experienced a substantial degree of disruption due to UAS flights at their facilities,” Oleg said.
“Small UAS present multiple well-documented dangers to the airliners, including critical engine damage risk in the event the UAS and its lithium batteries come into contact with it, or creating windshield cracks on impact,” he added.
Altenrhein Airport Safety & Compliance Manager Timo Nielsen says he’s happy to be the “Guinea pig” for the DroneShield system..
“We are pleased to partner with DroneShield, as the global leader in the C-UAS space, for the deployment at our airport, enabling us to receive actionable awareness of the UAS activity in our air space,” Timo said.
“Importantly, as a forward leaning airport, we welcome visits from other airports in Europe and elsewhere globally, to contact us or DroneShield, to learn more about the deployed system, and see it at a working airport facility,” he said.
DroneShield expects the demonstration of the system at Altenrhein will lead to further deployments through 2021 and beyond.
DroneShield is up 5.71 per cent, trading for 18.5 cents at 12:24 pm AEDT.
