EcoGraf (EGR) has signed a participant agreement with the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre (FBI CRC).
The FBI CRC research centre is a $135 million national battery research hub, located within Curtin University, Western Australia
It aims to position Australia as a global leader in environmentally, ethically and socially responsible manufacture, deployment, recycling and supply of batteries and battery materials by partnering with the industry.
Last year, Curtin got the green light from the Federal Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, the Hon Karen Andrews, to establish the FBI CRC.
The Australian Government has committed $25 million to support the development of FBI CRC, following a $28 million commitment from industry, government and research partners.
EcoGraf will be one of FBI CRC’s industry partners and will help provide the technology needed to identify opportunities for greater efficiencies in battery minerals’ extraction and refinement.
EcoGraf is building a vertically integrated business to produce high purity graphite for the lithium-ion battery market. It has a proposed to develop a processing facility in Kwinana, Western Australia.
The facility will manufacture spherical graphite products for export to Asia, Europe and North America using a superior, environmentally responsible purification technology to provide customers with sustainably produced, high-performance battery anode graphite.
The company’s proposed development are expected to help FBI CRC achieve its goals.
“The company’s unique eco-friendly graphite purification technology at its planned Kwinana development will provide critical material for FBI CRC research programs,” EcoGraf told shareholders this morning.
EcoGraf remains steady on the market this morning, trading for 8 cents apiece at 11:10 am AEDT.
