Electro Optic Systems (EOS) will move ahead with a manufacturing contract with OHB Systems after concluding negotiations.

EOS is an ASX-listed business which designs, manufactures and exports technology systems for the space, communications and defence sectors.

OHB describes itself as a leading European space company that creates tech solutions for the sector and is part of the wider OHB SE Group.

Both EOS and its subsidiary, SpaceLink Corporation, are partnering with OHB to manufacture and deliver the initial constellation of four high-capacity optical relay satellites.

The satellites to be manufactured by OHB will include multiple subsystems and components from US suppliers.

Additionally the four MEO spacecraft have digital payload processing, electric propulsion and optical inter-satellite links.

OHB has previously been announced as the ASX-lister’s preferred tender, but today’s announcement solidifies the deal.

EOS explains it and SpaceLink signed an Authorization To Proceed, giving it a legal basis to push ahead with the constellation construction.

The total value of the contract is US$300 million (A$401.3 million) and EOS plans to invest US$25 million (A$33.4 million) in SpaceLink as part of the financing.

Shares in Electro Optic Systems were trading up 0.28 per cent at $3.57 each at 12:50 pm AEDT.
