EMVision Medical Devices (EMV) has been awarded a grant under the Modern Manufacturing Initiative (MMI) grant program by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources.

The medical device company has been awarded $5 million under the MMI Manufacturing Translation Stream program.

This program provides businesses with funding to support projects that translate high quality research into commercial outcomes and support businesses to adopt new technologies and improve their manufacturing processes.

The grant is a matched funding program and remains subject to agreeing documentation and terms.

It has not been disclosed what the funding will be used for but the company confirms that further details will be published as soon as possible.

The company is developing and seeking to commercialise a potentially cost effective, portable, medical imaging device using electromagnetic microwave imaging for diagnosis and monitoring of stroke and other medical applications.

EMVision shares were up 8.09 per cent, trading at $1.87 as of 10:33 am AEST.
