Esports Mogul (ESH) has struck a deal with one of the world’s most successful game developers over the mogul.gg online tournament platform.

ESH will be integrating Clash Royale and Brawl Stars, both popular mobile games developed by Supercell, into the online tournament platform.

Mogul makes money from the platform by partnering with brands to create unique sponsorship-driven tournaments which allow players to win real prizes at no cost to the end-user.

Major mobile names

Supercell is the development team behind the hugely-popular Clash of Clans mobile game and its spin-off, Clash Royale.

Clash Royale is a real-time strategy game, exclusive to mobile, released in 2016. The game is free to download but allows players to make in-game purchases to speed up their progress or strengthen their team.

This business model has proven to be highly effective, with the game making $1 billion in revenue within its first year on the market.

The game still frequently ranks as one of the most played and highest-grossing on the App Store and Google Play Store, largely because of its competitive player-versus-player (PvP) style.

Brawl Stars, also developed by Supercell, is a competitive three-on-three game launched in December 2018. The game made around US$150 million (roughly A$208 million) in revenue in its first three months, though has since then not performed as strongly as the early days of Clash Royale.

Still, with over 200 million installs since its launch, Brawl Stars is nothing to be slept on.

The Mogul platform

The competitiveness of these games is already part of what makes them so popular, and now Mogul will allow players to put even more on the line when facing their opponents.

Mogul said through today’s deal with Supercell, it has been granted access to a set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that will improve the tournament player experience on the Mogul platform.

Essentially, the programming software will help improve Mogul’s matchmaking, score and statistic tracking, and spectating functionality to make it easier for streamers, influencers, and shoutcasters to produce better content.

Mogul CEO Michael Rubinelli said he is very excited about the deep integration of Clash Royale and Brawl Stars into the mogul.gg platform.

“This serves as another proof point for us further demonstrating our level of customer obsession and player focus. We share Supercell’s tireless commitment to gamers around the world,” Michael said

“We look forward to bringing great tournament experiences to Clash Royale, Brawl Stars and other Supercell games to players for years to come,” he said.

The mobile gaming market has a market size of over US$77 billion (around A$107 million), according to a 2020 Newzoo report — making mobile the world’s biggest gaming platform.

Shares in Esports Mogul spiked in early action today but have since pared back their win slightly. At 11:18 am AEDT, ESH shares are up 4.76 per cent and worth 2.2 cents each.
