A Look into Comme des Garçons Homme Plus Spring 2022 Collection

Three days ago, Comme des Garçons debuted its Homme Plus Spring 2022 Collection via a stunningly surrealist video recording. In an exploration of floral prints, the Japanese fashion label has titled the new collection “The Existence of Flowers.”

Ahead of the video release, Commes des Garçons founder and fashion designer, Rei Kawakubo said:

Flowers are not there only for happy times. They exist also for tough, sorrowful, and painful times. Even a tiny roadside flower can heal our shredded heart.”

With an emphasis on the emotions associated with flowers, the collection plays with asymmetrical cuts, layered textures and contrasting floral patterns. Artist, Travis Bedel, known for his anatomical artistic works was responsible for the back prints on four of the designs, while Ibrahim Kamara British stylist and editor-in-chief of Dazed created the fantastical papier-mache headpieces worn by the models during the show.

While the collection largely focuses on outerwear pieces, like jackets, blazers and trench coats, the show also revealed two footwear collaborations. John Moore x George Cox x Comme des Garçons Homme Plus released the TOESTRAP boots and GHILLIE shoes, while Nike Air Max Sunder x Comme des Garçons Homme Plus reinvented the iconic 1998 design.

The Comme des Garçons Homme Plus Spring 2022 Collection should be available in stores and online later this year.
