Inside Alicia Keys’ A$28m Mountainside Mansion

Remember Tony Stark’s mountaintop Malibu mansion from the Iron Man movies? Well, American singer Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beatz have let the public step inside the movie home’s real-life inspiration.

The couple recently allowed Architectural Digest to tour their A$28 million art-filled mansion believed to be the inspiration for the Tony Stark bachelor pad.

Quite simply, the home is an architectural marvel.

The ultra-modern, futuristic property named ‘Dreamland’ by the pair is a 1,022 square metre luxury residence on the mountainside in La Jolla, California. And with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, the sweeping Pacific Ocean views are priceless.

The Grammy award-winning singer explained the name, saying;

It’s a place to create dreams and to be bold enough to dream your wildest dream—for us to even be here is the wildest dream.

Despite the A$28 million price the couple paid in September 2019, they seemed to have sealed a bargain with the house originally listing for approximately A$41.8 million back in 2018.

It’s opulent living on another level. Aside from the spectacular views, the mega-mansion boasts six bedrooms, six bathrooms and two kitchens cascading over three floors. There’s also a home theatre, infinity pool, large library, glass pool table, a private recording studio and subterranean garage.

On the top tier roof terrace, there’s a roof-top spa, a sprawling entertaining area and a sundeck providing more breathtaking views of the Pacific.

Guests are blessed with the same high standards as owners with a separate, detached, triple-level, over 120 square metre guest house complete with two ensuite bedrooms.

Inside, the interior design created by Kelly Behun is simple and timelessly elegant. The style incorporates an array of wood elements, Moroccan wool rugs, velvet fabrics, grand walkways, and floating staircases. The warm colour scheme wonderfully complements the surrounding ocean views and is fitting for the hot California weather.

The partner’s creative expression is on full display throughout the house with over 1,000 pieces of art in the couple’s collection including African and African American artists and award-winning photographers. A grand piano, gifted to Keys by her record label, also sits pride of place as a statement piece.

Designed by Wallace E. Cunningham, the home reportedly cost approximately A$47.5 million and six years to build finishing in 2007. Alicia Keys’ house with husband Swizz Beatz will grace the cover of Architectural Digest’s December edition.
