Amaury Guichon: The Champion of Chocolate Set to Star in New Netflix Series

Amassing an impressive 7.4 million followers on Facebook, 30-year-old pastry chef and master chocolatier, Amaury Guichon, creates culinary masterpieces from sweet treats. As the most followed pastry chef on social media, Guichon’s jaw-dropping chocolate sculptures and pastry art attracts millions of likes and views and it seems Netflix wants a slice too.

While details are limited, the highly-skilled pastry chef will feature as the mentor in the upcoming competition show called ‘School of Chocolate’ on Netflix. This means more of Guichon’s incredible chocolate creations.

The man behind the chocolate

Born in Geneva, the talented pastry chef began his culinary training at an early age, moving to France to work in savory at just 14 years old. In pursuit of a sweeter career, Guichon returned to Switzerland to train in pastry, only to return to France to discover his real passion, chocolate, while training at Lenotre in Paris.

Earning industry recognition and winning pastry contests along the way, Guichon went on to work for Jean Philippe Patisserie in Las Vegas and then travel the world while teaching in some of the top culinary academies before returning to the US.

When the well-known chocolatier isn’t sharing his creations on social media, it seems he’s sharing his skills in his first pastry school, Pastry Academy. Based in Las Vegas, Amaury Guichon’s Pastry Academy was established in 2019 and takes students through some of his finest creations in a 10-week intensive program costing upwards of A$20,000.

From lions to robots, it seems there’s nothing Amaury Guichon can’t craft out of chocolate. Most recently the chocolatier created a 140cm sword as part of an Excalibur creation, documenting the process on Instagram.

Although Netflix’s ‘School of Chocolate’ is yet to confirm a release date, the competition series will see Guichon mentor eight top talents, with only one winning a ‘career-changing opportunity’.
