Amina Muaddi: The Glitzy ‘It’ Shoe Brand Loved By Celebrities

Over the past few years, 34-year-old Amina Muaddi’s eponymous shoe brand has gained a cult-like following, thanks to celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and pop-superstar, Rihanna all wearing Muaddi’s eye-catching heels out and about.

Defined by the brand’s signature flared block-style heel, a pair of Muaddi pumps continue to be hottest item women are investing in when for an important event.

In fact, back in March this year the brand’s capsule collection on MyTheresa sold out immediately, with some of the designer heels all added to carts and purchased within just hours of going online.

Since Amina Muaddi’s launch in 2018, the fun and bold heels we’ve come to see in our Instagram feeds have proven to have a lot more staying power than other fleeting fashion trends (like those ‘shackets’ and the unexpected return of Crocs this year).

So, if you’re looking for a fun new heel to pop on as we return to in-person events, look no further than a pair of Amina Muaddis.

The ultimate party shoe

The Begum heels are easily the brand’s most popular and most recognisable shoe, and it’s not hard to see why.

Splashed with bright colours like Fuschia and emerald green and crowned with crystal-embellished buckles, the Begum heels draw from an 80s glamour aesthetic to present themselves as the ultimate statement shoe. Featuring an elegantly pointed toe, slingback strap and plenty of character – the Begum is a real party shoe that has been labelled a modern Cinderella shoe.

Other standouts include Amina Muaddi’s Gilda, Glass Sandal. Worn by Kendall Jenner, these subtly sparkling sandals add just the right amount of sparkle and glamour to an outfit.

The mule-style Lupita sandals are also fan-favourites from the brand that makes for a versatile summer shoe.

The designer behind the pumps

Of course, a string of A-list celebrity endorsements is sure to propel any new fashion brand into the spotlight. However, Italian-raised Amina Muaddi’s success as a shoe designer stems from more than just her celebrity fans.

After studying at the European Institute of Design, Muaddi spent time working in Italy’s shoe-making district, Riviera del Brenta, before co-founding her first shoe brand Oscar Tiye. She then went on to collaborate with French couturier, Alexandre Vauthier on the launch of his shoe line before launching her own footwear brand.

Since establishing her eponymous brand in 2018, Amina Muaddi has been commissioned by Rihanna to design footwear for Fenty, won Entrepreneur of the Year at the Fashion Trust Arabia 2021 awards and amassed one million followers on Instagram.
