Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing to Teach Paris Fashion Students

Paris’ prestigious Instituto Marangoni has announced a collaboration with luxury fashion house Balmain, which will see creative director Olivier Rousteing deliver a masterclass in 2022.

Scheduled for April, the masterclass from Balmain’s creative powerhouse will be delivered to some 450 fashion students at the Paris-based school, while a new Balmain-sponsored scholarship will be offered later in the year.

I want to help future generations and ensure that the French fashion industry reflects the diversity and beauty we see every day on the streets of Paris today. I am proud to collaborate with the Parisian branch of Istituto Marangoni to turn this dream into reality.

Olivier said.

Taking the helm of Balmain at just 25 years old, Rousteing was one of the youngest designers to run a French Maison, and one of the few people of colour to ascend the ranks in Paris’ exclusive, and historically excluding fashion world.

Rousteing will also be invited to offer his expertise on the school’s curriculum, with ValĂ©rie Berdah-Levy, director of Istituto Marangoni Paris, commenting that the school wants his expertise and knowledge from an academic point of view. The collaboration will also see some student involvement in the Balmain Fashion Festival.
