Bruce Willis Sells Property Empire, Worth A$86m

Emmy-winning actor, Bruce Willis has sold his incredible A$86 million property empire over the last 4 years as he prepares to retire from acting and spend time with his family in California after being diagnosed with a brain condition known as aphasia.

The condition affects about 1 in 240 people and is caused by damage to the speech and language centre of the brain. Willis has fuelled online speculation about his declining health after appearing in flops and box office disasters over the last few years.

The biggest sale of Willis’ properties has been his 7.37 acre beachfront Turks and Caicos Islands residence which was listed at A$51 million but was eventually sold for A$36.36 million.

It was listed for sale again in March this year for A$50.45 million after the wealthy American couple who bought the compound from Willis for their 16 grandchildren decided they were not using it enough.

Willis bought the gorgeous parcel of waterfront land in 2000 and constructed the Asian-inspired compound in 2004. It features three separate timber residences including a 464 square meter main residence with vast outdoor areas and two smaller, 3 bedroom residences, all with large pools.

The house which is technically part of and serviced by the COMO Parrot Cay resort also has a children’s pirate-ship-themed playground, a beach volleyball court, butler service, and more.

The Willises say this was one of their favourite properties, they were married in 2009 on the beach in front of the main house and renewed their vows in the same spot in 2019.

Bruce Willis started selling off and downgrading his sizeable property portfolio in April 2018, when the actor sold his 558 square meter New York City duplex with more than 45 meters of Central Park frontage for A$23.7 million.

Willis then bought a smaller New York condo near Lincoln Centre for A$10.5 million saying that he and his wife liked the property’s amenities, which included an 1115 square meter rooftop garden, a 22-meter swimming pool, a children’s playroom, and private dining rooms.

In October 2018 Willis continued his downgrading by selling his sprawling 2560 square meter lakeside Idaho ranch near Sun Valley for A$7.3 million, which he bought in 2003.

The ranch is situated near the small town of Hailey and had been on the market for 7 years before it was finally sold. The original asking price was more than A$20 million and is surrounded by waterslides, a massive pool, ponds and streams built while Willis was the owner.

In December 2019, Willis also sold his 22-acre Westchester, New York estate for A$10.32 million, a jaw-dropping A$5.85 million less than what he paid for it in 2014.
