Bulgari Brings its Magnifica High Jewellery Collection to Australia for the First Time

You can expect an evening hosted by Italian jeweller Bulgari to be a grand affair.

So when the luxury brand brought its Magnifica High Jewellery and High-End Watches collection to Australia for the first time, it was unsurprisingly a magnificent occasion.

Showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and incredible opulence, the 150 piece collection was held at the suitably ornate heritage-listed Swifts mansion in Darling Point, Sydney.

The MAGNIFICA collection is a brilliant expression of the bold, timeless creativity that sits at the heart of the Bulgari world.

It is exciting to see jewellery of such breathtaking rarity and extravagance here on our shores in Australia.

Andrew McClaren, Managing Director of Bulgari Oceania.

The intimate evening, hosted by Managing Director of Bulgari Oceania Andrew McClaren, offered VIP clients and collectors the rare chance to see some of Bulgari’s finest pieces in person.

Awash with the brand’s signature vibrant colours, geometric shapes and iconic serpent motifs, the star of the show was undoubtedly a platinum Imperial Spinel necklace set with a staggering 131.21-carat spinel gemstone.

The mesmerising necklace features a central stone believed to be the fourth largest spinel of its kind by carat weight and the largest ever found to be cut into an elegantly faceted shape.

According to Bulgari, the three other larger spinels are set in Russian and British Imperial crowns.

Surrounded by the sparkling centrepiece gem, 122 diamonds weighing 51.5 carats and 27 emerald beads weighing 84.29 carats create a piece that conveys lightness and softness despite its powerful presence.

Crafted by Bulgari’s artisans in its Rome workshop, the entire necklace took 1,400 hours to create with other pieces revealed in the collection requiring upwards of 2,500 hours of hand work.

Two other necklaces, a pink gold Divas’ dream and a platinum Le Magnifique made lasting impressions. The former boasts a 17.46-carat cabochon-cut rubellite, set with buff-top cut rubies and tourmalines. The latter features an 11 carat antique cushion-cut Colombian emerald set in platinum.

Guests were also serenaded by a live harpist and served hors d’oeuvre while they explored and examined the intricate collection inside the late-Victorian mansion’s ballroom.
