Christie’s to Auction 128 Rare Patek Philippe Timepieces

The finest collection of Patek Philippe contemporary timepieces ever to appear at auction.

It’s Patek Philippe pandemonium at Christie’s.

A one-of-a-kind collection of 128 rare Patek Philippe timepieces will go under the hammer at Christie’s in three separate sales in Geneva on May 9th, Hong Kong on May 24th and New York on June 8th.

Named the ‘Kairos Collection,’ Christie’s head of watches for America Keith Davis said the sale is expected to set a new Christie’s record for each location.

Curated by a private distinguished collector for over 35 years, 30 pieces will be presented in Geneva as part one of the collection with every timepiece in immaculate condition and many being unworn. Each will sell alongside its original certificate of origin, all associated product literature, presentation boxes and outer packaging.

Collectors will be keen to get their hands on the highlight; a Patek Philippe Ref. 5531R-012 minute repeating world time in pristine 18k rose gold with Cloisonné enamel dial showing the World Heritage Site of The Lavaux Vineyards.

Made in 2017, it holds an estimate of A$1.4 million and A$2.8 million and sells with a certificate of origin, presentation box, inner presentation box, and a leather folder containing product documents.

Two further highlights include a Patek Philippe Ref. 5959R-001 split-seconds chronograph in 18k rose gold with black dial and a Ref. 5074R-001 minute repeater perpetual calendar in the same livery.

With an estimate of between A$204,000 and A$335,000, just 15 pieces of the former were ever made with the latter holding an estimate of between A$480,000 and A$743,000.

Both were originally retailed by Tiffany & Co and are stamped with ‘Tiffany & Co. Salon’ New York, and will sell with the authentic details including; Tiffany & Co pouch, slipcase, presentation box and outer packaging.

On 24th May at Christie’s Hong Kong, the second live auction will offer a further 30 lots including a rare platinum Ref. 5951 perpetual calendar split-seconds chronograph with an estimate of approximately A$290,000 and A$578,000.

Rounding off the three-part sale, the remaining 68 timepieces will hit the market at Christie’s in New York on 8th June and will feature timepieces adorned with the coveted dial co-signed by Tiffany & Co.

Amongst the rare pieces are some of the finest examples of the iconic Rolex Daytona chronograph as well as an iconic Crash London timepiece by Cartier.

Before the auctions commence, standouts from the collection will be displayed for the public at Christie’s locations including; London, New York, Geneva, Dubai, Hong Kong, San Francisco and New York.
