Editor-Approved Boots to Invest in this Winter

When it comes to autumn and winter no outfit is complete without a pair of stylish designer boots. Here, are some of the best boots of 2021 to wear this season and beyond.

The Square-Toe

The spotlight isn’t dimming on square-toe booties. This forward shape boot has been updated in 2021 to showcase geometric heels with playful, colour-blocked twists. Trending this season are snake-skin prints, burgundy reds and winter hues of brown and black.

The Croc Effect

The crocodile-effect has long been a favourite on the runway, street style scene, and outfits that pop up on my Instagram feed. The magical thing about this shoe trend is that it feels endlessly elevated and elegant, but instead of having to invest major dollars in it, you can get mock-croc shoes that look expensive but are a fraction of what the real deal would cost. This is the perfect addition to chic up a simple pair of jeans and trench coat with a cozy sweater.

The Combat Boot

Every now and then, a trend comes along that neatly intersects high fashion with genuine practicality; right now, combat boots – those utilitarian classics – are dominating the season, thanks to the fact that they not only look great but are perfect for trans-seasonal dressing. Say so long (for now) to those with stiletto heels, and slip into an elegantly simple pair that’s comfortable and way more walkable thanks to nearly flat block heels.

The Lug-Sole Boot

Stompy lug-sole boots were a mainstay on the runway and the streets last winter, and the silhouette looks set to stay. The high-end lug sole trend was spearheaded by Prada and Bottega Veneta and quickly became a hit with social media’s most stylish. We love this boot – it’s a great addition to add to your weekend wardrobe or on days when your in and out of the office.

Knee-High Boots

Whether worn over tights and styled with a leather or suede skirt or pulled over denim jeans, knee-highs are a tried and tested winter favourite. For a timeless pair of boots you can keep in rotation for years to come, Celine’s Claude calfskin boots are a luxurious essential for elevated everyday style. Their sleek almond toe and stacked heel (plus the brand’s signature golden Triomphe emblem) ensure myriad styling possibilities while retaining their innate elegance.
