French Cinema Returns to Australia with the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival 2022

The Alliance Francaise French Film Festival 2022 opened in Perth last night with the highly anticipated French drama, Lost Illusions.

Sponsored by Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne, the celebrated festival is entering its 33rd year running with a dedicated audience of French cinema enthusiasts across the country. Despite the pandemic, the festival managed to attract over 170,000 patrons to its screenings last year and there’s no doubt that this year will be just as grand.

The 2022 programme offers a carefully selected collection of 42 movies from a wide range of genres with five directorial debuts, several Australian premieres, and a number of world premieres as well.

The Perth opening event began with a pre-screening cocktail party of French canapés, delicacies and drinks before the screening of Lost Illusions.

Later this month you can catch the recognisable Sami Outalbali from Sex Education in the romantic drama, Une Histoire D’Amour Et De Desir ( A History of Love and Desire), get immersed in the intensity of French politics in Goliath and laugh at the hilarious antics of the men in Hommes Au Bord De La Crise De Nerfs ( Men on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown).

The event will take place in Palace and Luna Cinemas across the country, with the Sydney, Canberra, Hobart and Melbourne festivals having already opened and Brisbane, Adelaide, Byron Bay and Victor Harbour opening later this month.

Keep dreaming of France with the best French champagne and French restaurants in Perth.
