Gucci Dionysus Bag Review

The Gucci Dionysus bag was first released as part of the brand’s 2015 Autumn/Winter collection. Having been newly appointed as Gucci’s creative director, the handbag was Alessandro Michele’s handbag design debut with the brand.

Originally released in small and medium, in Gucci’s signature GG Supreme Canvas material, the Gucci Dionysus bag is now offered in a range of different colours, sizes and materials, including full leather, satin and velvet. Current models of the bag include the Gucci Dionysus Mini, Gucci Dionysus Small and Gucci Dionysus Medium, with shoulder bag, wallet on a chain, clutch and top handle varieties available. The handbag has also seen a number of special edition versions released, featuring flowers, bee and print prints.

As a nod to the Greek mythological namesake, the Gucci Dionysus features a silver-toned tiger head clasp encrusted with Swarovski crystals. The bag also has suede trim edges and a sliding silver chain that allows the wearer to alternate between shoulder, cross-body and handheld styles.

The only big difference between Gucci Dionysus sizes is the compartments. The Gucci Dionysus Mini has one compartment, compared to the Gucci Dionysus Small and Gucci Dionysus Medium, which have three. All sizes boast luxurious interiors and an extra pocket under the flap. If you’re looking for a long-lasting bag, the Dionysus’s original material, Supreme Canvas, is known for its durability. However, with proper care, all materials can be expected to sustain themselves.
