It’s no surprise that Melbourne is home to some of the best antique shops in the country. Located on Ellis Street in South Yarra, Øresund is a Scandinavian antique furniture store. With an emphasis on mid-century pieces, the carefully selected collection contains Werner Langenfled Lounge Chairs, Teak bookshelves and coffee tables, Svante Skogh sideboards and handwoven Swedish hall runners. You can pop into the showroom between 11am and 5pm from Thursday to Saturday, or book a private appointment on Monday through Wednesday.

Kazari + Ziguzagu

Robert Joyce and Jo Maindonald have been in the antique business for almost forty years. Along with their two daughters, the couple runs a Kazari + Ziguzagu warehouse in South Melbourne and a smaller store in Prahran. Focusing on Japanese and Chinese antiques, customers will find a hand selected collection of Japanese tea ceremony bowls, Shigaraki and Shino pottery, antique cabinets, desks, coffee tables, outdoor lanterns and collectable artworks and scrolls, along with some contemporary furniture and textiles.

The store is open between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with the warehouse opening between 10am and 4pm, Wednesday to Saturday.

Red Rider Vintage

Located in the vibrant St Kilda neighbourhood, Red Rider Vintage offers a selection of 20th century modern and industrial Danish retro furniture and decor. Filled with 1960’s dining suites, Fler Narvik daybeds and a quirky selection of custom lampshades, this store is by far, one of the coolest antique shops in the city. Sourcing furniture from designers including Parker, Fler, Featherston, Moderntone, TH Brown, Chiswell, Snelling, Zoureff, Shapiro and Rosando, Red Rider Vintage will also repair and restore antique furniture.

The store is open every day, apart from Tuesdays and Sundays, between 11am and 5pm.

Moonee Ponds Antiques

Long established Melbourne antique dealer, Moonee Ponds Antiques stocks a stunning collection of French and English antique furniture and decor. With stock spanning the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco eras, the Hawker Street store contains an array of vintage treasures including French provincial antique tables, 19th century napoleon mirrors, antique lighting, commodes, copper bathtubs, room dividers and French Candelabra.

The store is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between 11am and 4pm.

Old Post Office Antiques

Located in North Fitzroy, Old Post Office Antiques is one of the oldest antique stores in Melbourne. The jam packed store sells a huge range of quality antique furniture and collectables, with a focus on Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian and Australian Colonial pieces. Weave your way through the store and you will find antique artworks, sculptures, clocks, china, glassware, silverware and jewellery, along with an extensive selection of larger items, including ladies desks and mahogany bookcases.

Old Post Office Antiques is open from Friday to Monday, between 11:30am and 5:30pm.
