Ink Art: The Tattoo Artists Dominating Art Culture in Hollywood and NYC

A palm tree on a forearm. A hummingbird on the back of an elbow. A dog on the side of a finger. These tattoos are the work of Brian Woo – better known as Dr Woo – a 33-year-old tattoo artist in Los Angeles with a huge 1.8 million followers on Instagram.

Word of mouth and the glow of Instagram have helped Mr Woo drum up an impressive waiting list at the Shamrock Social Club, the tattoo parlour in West Hollywood where he works.

As ‘the choice tattoo artist for the influential elite’, Dr Woo has tattooed celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Drake and Miley Cyrus. Known for his intricate single-needle style, Dr Woo has honed his craft through working under iconic tattoo artist, Mark Mahoney at the Shamrock Social Club.
