Jacquemus Debuts its Latest Spring/Summer Collection in Hawaii

Hosted on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, Jacquemus’ latest Spring/Summer collection brought plenty of mood-boosting summer pieces.

Titled ‘Le Splash’, the surprise show was the first Jacquemus collection staged outside of France. And, in true Jacquemus fashion, the event saw an elaborate runway setup. Cutting through the pristine sandy shores of idyllic Moli’i Gardens’ beach, the runway led models along the shoreline, past a front row which seated the likes of musicians Aminé, SZA, Jhené Aiko and Blackpink’s Jennie.

With the Ko’olau mountains on one side and the ocean on the other, the tropical-infused collection could not have been debuted in a more fitting setting. Featuring plenty of bold colours and scuba-inspired silhouettes, ‘Le Splash’ was sartorial summer by the coast.

Opening with neutral beige and cream tones, the collection showcased creative director Simon Porte Jacquemus’ ability to layer in intriguing ways. Bodysuits remained unclipped and sat over pants. Trousers took on a more casual, sarong-inspired look and bikinis over button-downs and pants accentuated the collection’s colour blocking.

A collaboration with artist Tanya Lyons produced glimmering pieces adorned with beading of all kinds, including this pearl-infused cover-all.

As the show continued, bolder colours emerged. Fuchsia, tangerine, turquoise and lime green looks proved that 2022 is shaping up to be the year for dopamine-boosting, feel-good fashion.

Accessories, of course, included a designer’s range of iconic handbags such as the Chiquito.
