Luxury in the Balkans: Inside Montenegro’s New Portonovi Hotel

Nestled between towering mountains and the sparkling waters of the Adriatic sea is Montenegro’s newest luxury resort.

The Portonovi Hotel has been opened by the One&Only hotel group. Like their other luxury hotels, which are found in some of the world’s most beautiful and exotic locations, including the Maldives, Dubai, Rwanda, South Africa and Mauritius, the Portonovi is a spectacularly elegant property blending seamlessly into the riviera it sits on.

The palatial architectural style of the resort is reminiscent of Udaipur’s famous Oberoi. Like the Oberoi, the Portonovi towers royally over the water, overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage listed Boka Bay. Outside the hotel, guests have access to the many jewels of the riviera, with cobbled streets, bustling marketplaces and fresco-filled churches only a short walk away.

The inside of the Portonovi exudes opulence. Guest suites boast floor-to-ceiling glass, private pools and fireplaces. Secluded guest villas sit in their own private gardens, serviced by a dedicated team of butlers and private chefs. The resort also provides guests with access to a holistic day spa, private beach, jetty and the 238-berth Portonovi Marina.

While the riviera offers a myriad of gastronomic delights, the resort’s restaurants serve up authentic dishes from the region and from overseas. Guests can expect zesty greek salads and hearty wood-fire pizzas at Michelin-starred chef, Giorgio Locatelli’s restaurant, Sabia, Japanese cuisine at the resort’s Tapasake Club, and local Montenegro home cooking with a view at the La Veranda.

One&Only Portonovi is open for bookings now. You can book your stay here
