Luxury RV: Does the Camper Van Have As Much Appeal Today, As it Did in the 60s?

In the 1960s the Winnebago became the first mass-produced recreational vehicle to hit the market. Thanks to the likes of Barbie, Bob Dylan and the Blues Brothers, the following decades cemented the RV as a popular culture icon.

While the popularity of the RV has been steady for years, over 100 years after the release of the original one, first-time buyers are bringing the RV back to peak popularity. According to Business Wire, the North America Recreational Vehicle market alone was valued at A$42.6 billion in 2020.

And A-listers aren’t shy to spending time on the road. When celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Mariah Carey and Brad Pitt all have to travel, they hop in their luxury motorhomes brimming with the latest amenities.

The million-dollar RV’s are equipped with more opulence than many homes. Think a kitchen worth over A$100,000 and a nightclub accommodating 30 people. Here’s a look at some famous celebrity luxury motorhomes.

As if the over 14-metre long machine isn’t large enough, the four pullouts increase the width to create an even larger spacious setting.
