Vienna Christmas World, Austria

Vienna’s beautiful architecture and old-world charm are emphasised during the Christmas season. Held in Rathausplatz Square, a tall arched gateway opens up to Vienna’s Christmas World facing the beautiful Vienna City Hall. The 150 elaborately decorated stalls sell everything from Christmas-themed gifts and decorations to handicrafts, local culinary treats, confectionery and drinks.

Strasbourg Christmas Markets, France

Known as the ‘Capital of Christmas,’ Strasbourg is home to the world-famous Christkindelsmärik attracting around 2 million visitors annually. Spread across the city’s elegant squares, thousands of Christmas lights, trees and decorations as well as the beautiful cathedral at centre stage, creates a fairytale ambience. Explore the roughly 300 wooden chalets serving mostly festive food including fresh cakes, beer, mulled wine and pastries.

Basel Christmas Market, Switzerland

One of the most visually beautiful markets in Europe, the markets in Basel City are split between Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz. Entertaining visitors for over 40 years, the Basel Markets present over 180 chalet-style stalls sitting beneath festively decorated trees selling locally made gifts and gourmet food and drink. Brussels Winter Wonders, Belgium

The Belgium Christmas markets in the gorgeous city of Brussels is a spectacularly grand affair stretching 2km across six different sections all decorated in unique themes. Attracting around 2.5 million visitors annually, Brussels Winter Wonders markets display the city’s largest Christmas tree, a big Ferris wheel, an ice skating rink and Christmas lights. During the Christmas season, Vörösmarty Square in the capital of Hungary transforms into a magical place with over 100 festively decorated stalls and a massive Christmas tree. The markets sell all things local and seasonal including handicrafts, mulled wine and traditional food. The area’s famous Café Gerbeaud also becomes a giant advent calendar counting down the days till Christmas accompanied by a dazzling light and music show each day.
