American Muscle Comes Down Under: This is the New 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06

Australian muscle car fans can breathe a sigh of relief – the new 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 will make it to our shores. And it’s a true monster.

It’s the highest horsepower, naturally-aspirated V8 to hit the market in any production car, ever.

Chevrolet statement

The high-performance coupe, reportedly America’s fastest car, produces 670hp thanks to a mega 5.5-litre V8 engine. It will rev to an astounding 8,400 rpm – that’s race car territory but on the road.

The new Corvette Z06 defines the American supercar. It builds on the distinctive design and groundbreaking dynamics introduced with the mid-engine Corvette and elevates them to deliver refined but uncompromising track capability with world-class performance.

General Motors President Mark Reuss in the Z06 announcement

Releasing in both coupe and convertible models, the new C8 Corvette is wider, faster, and louder than its 2019 predecessor the C7 Corvette. The latter was no slouch producing 485kW of power courtesy of a very different engine – a supercharged 6.2-litre V8.

Its 2023 successor comes with a slew of modern upgrades from carbon fibre wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes to a completely overhauled chassis. Ultimately it’s the new LT6 engine that ensures the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is engineered for all-out track performance.

Power reaches the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. There’s also a Z07 performance package on offer for the real thrill-seekers. This includes a unique ‘FE7’ suspension tune, Michelin Cup 2 R ZP tyres, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. Add to that the carbon fibre aero package and you’ll enjoy a larger front splitter, front-corner canards and underbody aero strakes.

Looking around the exterior its Corvettes signature aggressive styling albeit with restyled front and rear ends designed for optimal cooling. The reconfigurable rear spoiler looks great and does the job of reducing downforce and improving high-speed stability.

Inside the cockpit feels modern and sporty with neat customisation options available. Personalise the new 2023 Corvette Z06 through seven interior colours, three-seat choices, twelve exterior colours, seven wheel packages and six different colour options for the seatbelts and brake calibres. If that’s not enough to meet your taste, there are also two different carbon fibre interior trim packages available.

Manufacturers General Motors are keeping exact production details under wraps. However, left-hand drive production for the American market commences in the summer of 2022 with right-hand drive models starting a few months later. This means we may not see Australian deliveries until the end of 2022 or early 2023.

GM Specialty Vehicles director Joanne Stogiannis said;

Details such as price, anticipated arrival timing and number of vehicles allocated to our market will be revealed next year.
