Parisian Dining: The Best French Restaurants in Perth

It’s difficult to overstate the significance and influence French cuisine has had on the culinary world.

Sometimes lashings of butter, decadent soufflés and the accompanying delicate bubbles of champagne are the only thing that will do.

Whether it be a nine-course degustation or a homely bistro-style, Perth is home to a refined array of French-inspired restaurants guaranteed to give you that je ne sais quoi dining experience the city of love is renowned for.

Chez Pierre, Nedlands

Fully embodying a classic French fine dining atmosphere and aesthetic, Chez Pierre brings French haute cuisine by the Champagne bucket.

The Ichallalene family have long been intertwined in Perth’s fine-dining scene, as previous co-owners of Hilite 33 (the first restaurant at St Martin’s Tower before C Restaurant), Pierre’s Garden Restaurant and the Jolly Frog Restaurant in Mandurah.

Continuing the family tradition, Chez Pierre is run by their son who studied at the Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris and shares his passion for fine food and service through the restaurant.

Chez Pierre also hosts two private dining rooms for an exclusive French dining experience and full vegan and vegetarian menus – ooh la la.

P’tite Ardoise Bistro, Perth

Nestled on the corner of Beaufort Street, P’tite Ardoise looks like it could have been picked up from the streets of Paris and placed right into Perth.

Adorned in a classic Parisian chic — think cafe style red alfresco seating and a matching overhead marquee — dining here is perhaps the closest thing you’ll get to a romantic Parisian dining experience in Western Australia.

Their menu offers a solid selection of classic French dishes, including Soufflé aux Trois Fromages (cheese soufflé) Pâté de Foie de Canard (duck liver Pâté) and Escargot (snails), the chef’s way.

Bistro Guillaume, Burswood

Upon entry to Guillaume Brahimi’s namesake Bistro at Crown Perth, it’s easy to see the interior decor inspiration drawn from Perth’s wide-open spaces.

Furnished with a signature green upholstery and a wink to the art deco art black and white tile, Bistro Guillaume masterfully marries French bistro chic and Perth’s sunshine coastal vibe, hosting dinners in a light space with poolside resort views.

Whether it’s for a romantic dinner sharing a chateaubriand or late-night celebratory champagne, Bistro Guillaume prides itself on offering a dining style to suit every occasion.

Le Rebelle, Mount Lawley

Husband and wife team Liam & Sarah Atkinson say their New York meets Paris style Beaufort Street haunt, Le Rebelle, is their home and its diners; their guests.

Underpinned by a thoughtful wine list and tantalising menu, it’s little wonder Le Rebelle took WA Food Guide’s top spot for 2019 in its opening year.

This assured yet charming spot hosts diners in its holy trinity bistro, wine bar and intimate dining area combination, each offering a different accompanying atmosphere.

Petite Mort, Shenton Park

Directly and rather appropriately translating as “little dead”, Petite Mort’s decadent nine-course degustation certainly promises a slice of heaven.

This suburban restaurant delivers modern French cuisine in a casual-luxe setting with both gluten-free and vegetarian options for its set menus.

Their signature Petite Mort Liqueur Trolley also offers bountiful high-end spirits, cognacs, whiskeys and liqueurs as a bougie digestif to your meal. Those with a penchant for it can also enjoy a Cuban cigar in their romantic terrace garden late into the evening.
