Playing with Textures: The Best of Mixed Material Decor

Versatility is an asset valued by many and the latest decor trend has seen it extend to our homes.

As the working-from-home era thrives from pandemic measures, so has the passion for interior design. People are spending more time in their homes and more money on their decor.

In data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics last August, more than 40 per cent of people employed consistently worked from home, an increase of 30 per cent prior to the pandemic.

There is currently a strong emphasis on quality craftsmanship and longevity in design, consumers are looking for materials that are not only beautiful but durable.

Unsurprisingly, interior design trends have been through their own revolution. Speaking to Vogue, interior designer Timothy Corrigan predicted mixed materials to be one of the fastest-growing trends in 2022.

The desire to have unique things that are not like everyone else’s is leading to an increase in mixing materials in furniture design. It is not uncommon to see case goods with wood, metal and stone elements all used in the same piece, to make them more unique and special.
