Recreate the Best Looks from Emily in Paris Season Two

Often described as the ultimate guilty pleasure viewing, the release of the second season of the Netflix series, Emily in Paris brought its fair share of iconic outfits. Released in December 2021, season two of the comedy-drama series was devoured by many over the Christmas break, proving to be the escapist viewing we all needed, exceeding expectations. And if you followed Emily Cooper’s journey as a clueless American in Paris in season one, you’ll agree that the bar was set pretty high in terms of binge-worthy relationship drama and ridiculous outfits.

Styled by established costume designers Marylin Fitoussi and Patricia Field, the colour, loud prints and crazy accessories continued, if not ramped up, in series two. In fact, many have described the fashion in season two as nothing short of outrageous and bizarre, with leather gloves seeming to be a recurring accessory in Emily’s wardrobe. But there’s a method to the madness. In a news story published by Netflix, Fitoussi said her motto for the season was “too much good taste is boring”.

My trademark is eclecticism and mixing everything together. So if people thought Season 1 was a little much, a little flashy, then Season 2 will be more so. And I’m proud of it. Emily has a strong personality, and we’ll keep her costumes just as strong this season.

Marylin Fitoussi told Netflix

Patricia Field, the costume designer behind the iconic looks in Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada, also brought the fashion scape of Emily in Paris to life. In an article in Elle, the acclaimed costume designer was said to have told Fitoussi not to care about reality in the world of the bubbly and exciting series. Hence, some pretty out-there outfits.

Bold Office Attire

No colour is too bold or bright for Emily Cooper in season two. Paired with a vintage Versace cropped polo, the protagonist wears a bright green shacket and multi-coloured stilettos, while the Parisian characters of Sylvie and Camille stick to more classic colour palettes.

Camille’s French-Girl Chic

Alongside the bright and pattern-heavy looks worn by Mindy and Emily, Camille’s classic French-girl sophistication is a breath of fresh air. Featuring a softer palette and more unisex silhouettes, Camille’s outfits are understated and very off-duty model, with the occasional splash of colour like these red sunglasses and red striped crop-top combination.

Sylvie’s Sophisticated Officewear

In the unrealistic world of Emily in Paris, Parisians spend much of their working week wining and dining clients, including head-honcho Sylvie who is often seen wearing velvets, silks and plenty of dark attire that could easily translate to a bar setting. This outfit, featuring a stunning midi skirt with a thigh-high slit, encapsulates the character’s sophisticated dress sense.

Summery Ensembles for St. Tropez

While on a weekend trip to St. Tropez, it seems that characters Emily and Mindy discover a newfound love for ruffles. Meanwhile, Camille keeps things monochromatic with an oversized white Valentino blazer and loafers.

Sylvie’s Fashion Show Look

Again, Sylvie steals the (fashion) show with her understated sophistication with this classic jumpsuit and scarf number. While Emily’s numerous hair clips and giant red ruffles may steal your attention, Sylvie’s strapless jumpsuit look is timeless, versatile and easy to recreate.

A Girls Night Out in St. Tropez

While the characters spend their fair share of time at dinner parties and corporate events, it is their night out in St. Tropez that brings the best evening looks in season two. Alongside the monochromatic looks worn by Camille and Mindy, Emily shines in a stunning purple Valentino mini dress.
