Sail the Arctic Sea on Disney’s New Luxury Cruise

Disney has announced a new icy adventure that sets sail in June and July 2023 from the world’s northernmost settlement, Longyearbyen.

Over the course of 10 days, Adventures by Disney will take guests through the icy Arctic sea, along breath-taking fjords, past polar bears and glaciers as part of a ‘journey of a lifetime.’

Starting from around A$16,200 per adult, the Arctic expedition will explore the western coastline of Spitsbergen, including the incredible landscapes of the Svalbard archipelago, which will be explored up close by zodiac boats.

As part of the Arctic Expedition Cruise’s ‘go with the Floe flexible itinerary,’ travellers will go whale watching, spot arctic foxes and reindeer on wildlife hikes and see the Monaco Glacier among other exciting activities. The trip will be led by experienced Disney-trained adventure guides and naturalists.

The luxury cruise ship for the job is Ponant’s Le Boreal, which boasts a heated swimming pool, hair salon, spa, gym and two restaurants.

Aboard Le Boreal, guests will be able to enjoy live music, pool parties, talent shows, fitness classes and performances from Ponant’s entertainment team.

Adventures by Disney recommends the Arctic expedition for children 10 and over. Prices for ‘Junior Adventurers’ start from around A$14,600.

Bookings for this Frozen-inspired adventure will open to the general public on November 12 and open earlier for previous Adventures by Disney guests.

According to an article in The Barents Observer, Disneynature is currently producing a film around the impact of climate change on Svalbard which has seen vanishing glaciers and increased rainfall in recent years.
