Very strict procedures and protocols are in place so the marina development has actually been waiting for approval for about 25 years according to Rob.

It’s not just during the development, [procedures and protocols] will be ongoing as well. It will include obviously water quality et cetera, it will be monitored and very strict. I can tell you that the developer is actually a passionate diver, so he has a vested interest to do every thing he can to make sure that it’s not just a development, but that it cares for the environment as well which is obviously extremely important.

There is significant demand for more marinas and berths in the Whitsundays. Three nearby berthing facilities are all at capacity and the new marina is expected to sell very quickly. Rob says the feedback he got from the Sydney International Boat Show was that there would be very strong demand for berths in the Whitsundays for years to come.
