Sydney’s Best Waterside Breakfast Spots

Sydney is one of Australia’s most popular cities and is known for its sparkling waterfront views. We have curated a list of the best spots where you can grab a morning cuppa and some bircher muesli, after your morning run, or just before you head into the office.

The Boathouse Balmoral

Boathouse Balmoral is a waterside cafe located in Mosman. Sit back and enjoy your morning brew with waterfront views at Balmoral.

The Menu

The food choices seem to be endless at this local boathouse. Our favourites from the menu are the green eggs and ham, which includes the perfect poached eggs, grilled ham and pesto. Fancy something a bit sweeter, choose the ricotta hotcakes served with maple and berries – you won’t be disappointed.

Bathers Pavillion

Set on Sydney’s Balmoral Beach overlooking Middle Harbour, the much loved Bathers’ Pavilion combines beachside elegance with 1920s art deco styling and Mediterranean charm.

Heritage-listed Bathers Pavilion is a well-known restaurant by Sydneysiders and is also located in the Mosman area on Sydney’s lower north shore. More recently, the pavilion was closed for a 10-week renovation, so you can now sit back and soak up the sun at its famous outdoor terrace.

The Menu

Our choice of breakfast? Brioche french toast, grilled fig, honey, macadamia praline. And, if you fancy a swim after breakfast, it’s just a few steps away from a beach.

MCA Cafe

Boasting spectacular views from its Harbourside balcony, the MCA Cafe is located at the Museum of Contemporary Art and has one of the best views in Sydney, looking onto the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

The Menu

With a menu that changes depending on museum exhibitions – there, is always an opportunity to try and experience something new. A three-grain poke rice bowl served with avocado, kimchi, 6min egg, pickles, beetroot & radish is a win, win for us. A great place to grab a coffee in the morning and a great place to host work functions and private lunches.

The Bower Manly

Known as the “Sydney brunch spot where you can eat on the water,” the Bower is one of our local favourites, serving up some of the best coffee in Manly and arguably has the best view of Shelly Beach.

If a breakfast cocktail is on your menu, come down to this beautiful spot in Manly to enjoy a Mimosa or Seaside Spritz with a spectacular view.

The Menu

With a seasonal menu available to choose from, the Haloumi Bruschetta served with Pesto, balsamic reduction, poached eggs and rocket & heirloom tomato salad on rye has been a local favourite.

Celsius Coffee

Celsius Coffee Co is famous for its peanut butter waffles and breathtaking sea views, located on the Kirribilli wharf side. The cafe offers an all day brunch menu with fun and creative dishes to get that perfect Instagram photo.

Not only is the food great but the coffee also has a name for itself using Canberra roaster ONA Coffee. For the non-coffee drinkers, there are Botanica cold-pressed juices.

The Menu

Fancy a big breakfast? The Celsius Breakfast is a must-try. Smoked bacon, avocado, relish sautéed Swiss chard, poached eggs, mushrooms, Miso butter all served on a sourdough toast – it’s the perfect start to any day.
