The Lingerie Revolution: La Perla – More Than Just A Brand

Founded in 1954 by Italian master corset-maker, Ada Masotti, La Perla is today recognised as one of the most comfortable lingerie makers in the world. From humble beginnings in Bologna, Ada Masotti became known for her tailoring skills and quickly gained recognition for her ability to enhance feminine beauty through her comfortable designs.

While La Perla is known for its delicate use of silk and lace, it is more than a lingerie brand – also offering sleek sleepwear and swimwear in her collections. Through its evolving yet traditional designs, La Perla has redefined femininity and has consistently imagined pieces for the modern woman.

Although La Perla solidified through elaborate designs and high-quality tailoring – the brand is synonymous with old-Hollywood glamour and sex appeal thanks to its appearance in cinema debuts like The Wolf of Wall Street.

Most notably, La Perla has been spotted on both Bond girls and Bond himself. In the 1995 Bond film, The GoldenEye (1995) Natalya Simonova wears an iconic three-piece La Perla beach outfit. The only La Perla costume to trump this is the pair of swimming trunks Daniel Craig wears in Casino Royale (2006), which sold for more than A$84,000 at a Bond-themed charity auction in 2012.

La Perla 80s Revival Collection

Drawing inspiration from the decadence and hedonism of the 1980s, La Perla has recently taken a deep dive into the archives to produce its 80s revival collection. The thirteen pieces exclusive ready-to-wear collection is modelled by London model and actress Iris Law and is shot by photographer Indigo Lewin to truly capture the female form through a female lens.
