The iconic French fashion house produces one of the world’s most expensive beauty lines. After releasing the iconic Chanel No.5 fragrance in 1921, Chanel expanded their beauty line to a full range of luxury cosmetics, skincare and fragrances. The brand’s makeup line comprises of face, eyes, lips, and nail cosmetics, as well as brushes and makeup application tools. The products are priced towards the higher end of the scale, with a Chanel foundation costing between A$90-$200. Blushers and bronzers cost around A$100, while lipsticks are usually around the A$60 mark.

Some of La Prairie’s most expensive products include a A$375 caviar-infused cream foundation and a A$335 caviar-infused finishing powder. The luxury skincare brand La Mer, produces a high-end cosmetics line based on the same cell-renewing formula found within the brand’s restorative skincare products. Discovered after La Mer founder Dr Max Huber suffered burns in a lab accident, the formula is created by putting sea kelp and other pure ingredients through a unique fermentation process. La Mer prices reflect the rare ingredients, with a A$200 Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation, a A$175 sheer pressed powder and a A$125 foundation brush.

French cosmetics, perfume and skincare house, Guerlain is best known for their luxurious and expensive lipstick range. Founded in Paris in 1828 by the perfumer Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain, the company invented the iconic Ne m’Oubliez Pas lipstick in 1870. Currently, Guerlain’s signature lipstick is the customisable Rouge G de Guerlain. Sold with a unique case designed by Lorenz Bäumer, the lipstick is priced at A$400.
